Sean Schaeffner was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in the Grosse Pointe suburbs of Detroit, Michigan; a National Merit Scholar, he earned a BBA in Accounting at the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Law School.
Sean practiced as a Certified Public Accountant with Peat, Marwick, was a member of the Midwest Stock Exchange and is a member of the Michigan Bar Association. Engaged in corporate finance for over 30 years, concentrating on the financing of real property and capital equipment, Sean was associated with a number of the largest banks and finance companies in the world.
After retiring from the world of corporate finance and moving to South Carolina, he again became interested in real estate, leading to purchase by the Schaeffer’s of one of the oldest “United” real estate franchises in South Carolina. It is also the only national real estate franchise located in Fairfield County where he is currently Broker in Charge.
Growing up on the shores of the Great Lakes, Sean spent a lot of time swimming, water skiing, fishing and duck hunting while a decade spent in Connecticut and Vermont running a log home manufacturer also fostered a strong interest in Revolutionary War structures, Antebellum properties and the rural life style in general. Reflecting the varied life style experiences of Sean and his wife, the Carolina Real Estate Company specializes in high end historic homes, equine estates, lake properties and rural land tracts such as farms, timber properties and recreational acreage.
Upon settling on Lake Wateree in the “Midlands” of South Carolina, the Schaeffner home which includes Sean’s soon to be 101 year old father-in-law became a frequent destination for five grown children and five grandchildren. Sean stays involved in, and devotes a great deal of time to, the local community, having served as a director and chairman of the Fairfield County Chamber of Congress, Treasurer of the VFW Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Lake Wateree HOA, singing with the Our Lady of Perpetual Hope church choir and speaking at various school programs. Sean loves a good book, a glass of red wine, singing at any time and the avoidance of turnips and Brussel Sprouts at all cost!
